Room Six Update
June 9, 2010
Picnic - and More!
Not only is Thursday the annual end of the year picnic, it's also the
choir concert, craft fair, lemonade stand and book exchange! We've
conveniently
located the whole shebang at Willard, starting at 5:30. The choir
sings at 6:30. Come hang out with the Ridgeline community, hear the
children sing and stock up for your child's summer reading.
Field Trip Next Tuesday
On Tuesday our class is visiting Alton Baker Park, where we'll go on a
nature walk and do a pond study with naturalists from Nearby Nature.
Please make sure to send your child to school in layered clothes,
suitable for rain or shine. Help your child put on sunscreen before
school if needed. Also send in a backpack, water bottle and sack
lunch, unless you already ordered a sack lunch from the cafeteria.
Last Day of School
On the last day of school, we'll be taking a walking trip to Morse
Ranch for a picnic, popsicles and some outdoor play. We could use a
few volunteers to join us on our walk and help supervise activities.
If you're interested and available from 11:30 to 2:30 on Wednesday,
June 16, let me know.
End of the Year Checklist
Did you remember to...
Send in your $75 supply fee for the 2010-2011 schoool year?
Turn in your Race and Ethnicity form?
Fill out the super-convenient Charter School Survey at
http://www.ode.state.or.us/surveys/?
Home Folders
We're done with homework for the year! Thanks to the many families
who returned their homework folders week after week. Now it's time
for all the plastic home folders to come back so that we can reuse
them next year.
Phonics Practice Available
If you have a child who is still building reading skills, summer
practice is very important. I have some materials available that can
help you work with your child. Please let me know if you'd like a
packet of summer reading work.
Ridgeline sometimes gets notices from private tutors and summer
reading programs. If you'd like to connect to those resources, let me
know.
Thank Yous
What an amazing year! Ali and I are both so impressed by the way that
the children have pulled together as a community. We've also been
lucky to have the support of so many committed Ridgeline families.
You all have helped in so many ways: caring for a class pet over
vacation, laminating endless materials, listening to young readers,
stapling booklets, making presentations and chaperoning field trips.
This volunteer commitment really helps us give the children a bigger,
better school experience. Thanks!
