THANK-YOUs:
Our eternal thanks and gratitude to our AMAZING group of end-of-year trip volunteers: Gena "Honey-G" Hutton , Jill Giddens, Karen Fabiano, Tim Reed, Paul Hewett, and Emily Kintigh - all of you made our special adventure even that much more special!! Also, thank you to our Sand Master Park Welcome Wagon: Sisy Anderson, Charlie Tebbutt, Karen Murphy - what a wonderful return to civilization for us!!
ACADEMICS:
The students have had a blast examining electrical circuits and analyzing the transformation of energy into work. Some students have begun working on their own electrical circuit boards which will result in wonderful classroom materials!! We recapped our Camp Magruder experience with our vocab. lists this week. The class began studies on the six simple machines as the conclusion to our in-depth look at the physical sciences. Literature groups continue, as well as individual math lessons/follow-up and independent research presentations.
HUMAN GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT:
Human Growth and Development class will take place on Friday, May 28th. This class is designed to address ALL of Oregon's human growth and development standards for 4th through 6th grade in one setting, including sex education. Pursuant to student requests, girls and boys will have separate classes, and then rejoin for a "debriefing", as well as Q&A session. (The boys have also requested a male instructor; however, I have yet to find a victim . . . I mean volunteer. Do I have any takers? If not, they'll just have to put up with me.) STUDENTS MUST HAVE A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE (this is in your child's binder).
HOMEWORK/STUDY HALL:
Pre-trip homework packets are due this week!! New homework has been distributed in binders and is due next Friday (back to the normal routine). The last homework packet will be distributed on Friday, June 4th, and is due the following Friday, June 11th. There will be NO study hall next Thursday (5/27). Our last study hall will take place on Thursday, June 10th (which is also the last week for homework turn-in!).
